Thanks Tom. Made some progress. After checking this thread here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/ne4gty/workaround_for_pipewire_not_starting_up_on_login/
went and ran pipewire manually in a terminal:
$ pipewire
No luck. Then executed:
$ pipewire-pulse
And voila, now I have sound!
Issues with the systemd unit(s)?
