The system was idle overnight, so shouldn't have been overheating.
However on checking the journal I see a whole stream of messages from
upowerd about a USB over-current condition, which seem to be close in
time to the lockup messages. I also noticed that my USB-connected
printer wasn't responding. I've now connected the printer wirelessly
and it's working fine. I have a USB-3 multiport hub, so that may the
the root cause.

I've not explicitly enabled sysstat collection (how do I do that?)
