Probably the big gripes are that:

Calling something privacy mode without detailing how and what it does,
and the name suggesting that it might offer more than it actually can.

And those who have to deal with its ramifications. Chances are that on
a home network, it probably doesn't matter what address your computer
or phone is at, from day to day (until you try to debug something and
don't know where to find it on the network). But things like your
printer changing locations might be more of a problem. Especially with
some older Windows OS which had a nasty habit of having to install
drivers for the printer every time it was found at a new IP. Or people
who used windows networking, and have to contend with the network going
down randomly when it does it's "who's the boss" thing periodically.

Those people that want to anonymise themselves would generally be doing
that on purpose. Conversely, people who think they're being anonymous
without doing anything about it are in for a rude shock.
