Select the new (problem) kernel version, but don't boot it. Edit instead, and find the "resume=UUID" parameter and delete it. Now boot with control-x or f10. See you can boot now. There is a long standing dbus-broker related bug some folks are hitting, and because the problem happens in the initramfs, the version of dbus-broker you have installed is not necessarily the one being used. i.e. the older kernel can have the older dbus-broker that doesn't have the problem. Updating to the latest dbus-broker that fixes the problem isn't enough, you have to rebuild the initramfs so that it gets the fixed copy baked into it.
