I tend to agree.  In the early days there were B&W-only inkjet printers
that were reasonable (for their time), with easily refillable ink
tanks.

Any time I'd looked into the costs of printing photos, it was always
cheaper to have them printed properly rather than do them yourself. 
The ink isn't cheap, the tanks are tiny, and decent photo paper was
expensive, too.
