But LVM doesn't *know* you aren't using LVM until *after* it has scanned all of your disks to see if any of them are LVM PVs. Hence I was wondering if pvscan is trying to access the disks in the dock, eventually the disks spin up, pvscan sees that they are not LVM, and then the boot proceeds. I could also be way off base here.
