The thread just showed up in my inbox (gmail) so I didn't look at the
dates.  Messages from 2019 should have been deleted (or archived if I
thought I might want to refer to them again)  long ago.  Gmail seems to be
going through a period of "something is wrong" events, and the total number
of messages in my inbox seems to have ballooned.
