Don't discount cabling, either.

If connectors don't fit well, that can easily lead to failures from the
tiniest of vibrations.

And people mangle SATA leads.  If you kink them, that leads to data
corruption.  There should be no sharp bends, or folds.  Which could
mean that some cables are permanently ruined before you buy them, when
they tightly bundle them in the retail packaging.
