Can "espeak" convert Thunderbird email messages into sound and if so how is it
done?

man espeak says....

espeak [options] [words]

OPTIONS
       -ffile  Text file to speak.

--stdin  Read text input from stdin instead of a file

If neither -f nor --stdin, words are spoken, or if  none then  text  is
spoken from stdin, each line separately.

I could find no T-Bird addons that would integrate.

The simplest way would be to copy the text, paste the text into a file, and
feed the file to espeak.
