The builtin screenshot function works perfectly if there is no need to modify the screen shot. Let say, you want to add an arrow, magnify a portion of the screen shot, annotate, etc. To accomplish this one will have to use GIMP or similar to modify the screenshot. However, if you use a tool like shutter there is not need for any other tool/application.
