I use https://web.whatsapp.com/

It links to the phone. It will display one of the codes on the computer 
screen, and then you scan it with the phone. They will then be linked to 
the same info. The phone does have to have a wifi connection, but I 
prefer using the computer than using whatsapp on the phone. 
Works well for me.
