Sorry, I was just chiming in to present the data point that it might not just be an isolated issue. I don't particularly need Audacity on my laptop and it works fine on my desktop so I've mostly resigned myself to the idea that it doesn't work, but I do try suggestions from time to time when I come across other poeple with the same issue.
