Yes, that appears to have been all it needed, it remains to be seen what happens with the next dnf update/

I simply did rm /var/lib/dnf/history.sqlite Actually I saved it and then did the update and it went pretty much as it normally does. I had been trying the suggestions provided a little earlier but was stumped with the bugzilla scheme to remove and replace ... In addition to this problem we had a lightning strike a few nights ago and we have other stuff that needed attention first thing on Monday morning as often seems to happen a I had number of distractions.
