Also if you have /boot as a separate filesystem no ro,remount is done so the journal is never replayed on /boot. Overall the simplest is just to use something without a journal.
That's really strange.Because, like I said, in 20+ years of installing kernels on multiple machines, all sorts of hardware, and immediately rebooting, this never happened to me.
