Yup, ok, i'm going to put my confusion down the fact that i've never
noticed the bar on the spinfinity theme. :)
Anyway, the only thing that instantly pops to mind is resolution. (I'm also
assuming the laptop here, is different to that laptop over there)
So maybe a quick test with something like GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1920x1080

That's all that I can think of.....
