If you're rebooting, then reloading won't make any difference.

I useĀ  different names for each SSID to have a clear idea what I am connecting to. I don't even really need 2.4Ghz because 5Ghz works perfectly I just want to get to the bottom of this.

Ok. I don't have any other suggestions. I did see a thread on the linux wireless mailing list about someone that couldn't connect at a couple of specific Starbucks locations with similar symptoms, but I don't think there was any solution found.
