Indeed it looks like I did, just figured it out. Looks like one of the
RPMs from the amdgpu-pro driver I was trying to extract (and apparently
accidentally installed) for OpenCL before giving up and going over to
ROCm left a configuration in /etc/dracut.conf.d looking for the amdkfd
module that wasn't there. Removed that file, re-ran dracut and I'm
successfully in the new kernel.
