Sorry just getting back to this:
What I have done is
In TB 3.x : 2 part setup
1:
Edit > Prefrences > Display > Tags > add >
"tag name" (in my case top-post)
2:
create new filter
Called "Top-Post"
where "tags contain Top-Post
send to bin.

The as msgs arrive if top-posted just tag.
