I  assume inn this case we are using a printer that internally
understands postscript. If I had such a printer I would want some
process to convert the files I send to it into postscript, Sometime try
to get HP to reveal to you what data a printer understands.

I admit since I have  no guarantee what is the nature of the data I send
to a printer I don't really see under what circumstances a raw printer
would be useful.
