I've had that kind of thing, in the past.  It'll appear to suspend and
wake-up when tested for a short period.  But if left for a long time,
when you eventually try to wake it up, it's a warm boot from a swap
file, or a completely fresh boot up.

I wonder if the motherboard needs to be set to go into
hibernation/suspend mode correctly, so that it continues to supply
adequate power to the RAM.  But isn't, and after a while, the RAM loses
its contents.
