Thunderbird does exactly the same, Nautilus however does not open fullscreen (nor does Evolution). So a fresh install seems to clear some of the issues but not all. A new user might do the same, haven't had time to do what you recommended above.
I'll probably do a fresh install when I have a bit of time ahead of me, as this release was upgraded from F26. Thank you. Fred
