I use the file below for some different hardware where the monitor doesn't
do EDID. Don't copy this exactly.

# Xorg configuration created by system-config-display

Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier "single head configuration"
        Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
        InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"

# keyboard added by system-config-display
        Identifier "Keyboard0"
        Driver "kbd"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc105+inet"
        Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Monitor0"
        ModelName "NEC MultiSync LCD2010X"
        HorizSync 31.0 - 80.0
        VertRefresh 56.0 - 85.0
        Modeline "1280x1024_70.00" 129.00 1280 1368 1504 1728 1024 1027 1034
1069 -hsync +vsync
        Option "dpms"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Videocard0"
        Driver "nouveau"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "Videocard0"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Viewport 0 0
                Virtual 1280 1024
                Depth 24
                Modes "1280x1024_70.00"
        EndSubSection
EndSection
