Quick check-list of things to check with NFS: Both sides of the network have the same time on their clocks. All appropriate NFS services running on the server. Firewalls (server and client). Same USER IDs on server and client if you're owning own files. Correct use of no_squash/squash. NFS versions. If your NAS is one that auto-updates itself, then you may need to recheck things from time to time. Simplistic NAS devices (e.g. cloud thingummies) sold for general public may do a near factory default after an update, and NFS is an oddity to them (seems to be little thought given to it).
