Why are people saying it's necessary? It wasn't before. Why should it, *NOW*, become so. For the last decade, or so, we've rarely had to reboot. But now it's becoming the norm. You have programmers who are claiming that they need to do a reboot, yet previously this was not needed. Heck, I could even continue to use running software in the middle of it being updated. It's showing a trend, that over time more and more programmers will go down that path. The (pre)existing OS was already that way, and is moving away from it. Stop copying the worst aspects of other OSs that drove us away from using them, over to using Linux, instead.
