Are you running Fedora Workstation (Gnome Desktop)? Recently I disabled gnome-software update cache, so now Gnome Software do not automaticaly update the updates database in a randomly way, since this I don't have more updates notifications. I update every day via command line, What I disliked from GNOME Software updates was to reboot the system to fully install the new packages, I don't have to do this when I update via command line.
