It's not a Gimp script mentioned there, but an ImageMagick command (convert).
By the way, there are nice tutorials on using ImageMagick from IBM (yes!), 
rather old, but not outdated:

The first answer was for convert.  The second answer was a gimp script.  I was 
referring to that because the question asked for tools other than ImageMagick.
