If you send mail through a google-hosted mail (gmail or google apps
account), it will automatically go to sent-mail. In TBird, you should
not set it to copy any messages into sent mail.
I'm not running Fedora, but it seems to me that Thunderbird should not
depend on your browser.
In my version of Linux (pclos) Thunderbird does not depend on my
browser--Firefox mostly. When I install
Thunderbird, I do not have to set any particular "filter" to save sent
mail--it just does. (I have just now verified that
my messages have been saved.) Do you not have a stand-alone version of
Thunderbird?
