Hm, looks good so far. Another try: Please blacklist the nouveau driver in /etc/modprode.d/blacklist.conf. Simple add an entry _blacklist nouveau_ at the end of the file and remove the nomodeset in /etc/grub.conf.
I remember me, that I has some problems without the blacklisted nouveau driver, flickering screen and so on...
