I have managed to get my laptop and desktop to successfully ping each other using wireless, answering each other with both IP address and name as appropriate. The network is connected through a wireless router. The rest * ought* to be easy. I have spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to get the actual LAN installed complete with GUI. At this point, the end result wanted is simply to exchange files.
