What I am essentially saying is that when  you count number of entries for
one date in Kannel and http access_log they should ideally tally. if there
is a considerable variance then I would like to assume that there is some
data loss somewhere along the way.

Sample count command would be:

HTTP:   cat access_log | grep '08/Sep/2015' | wc -l
Kannel: cat access.log | grep '2015-09-08 ' | wc -l

I have cases where in day for example, HTTP would report 34,000 incoming
requests with status 200 (Succesfully submitted) but kannel's access log
would report only 29,000.

Could this be something one should be worried about?
