Hi Peter about your questions:
1) I've seen bearerbox refusing to start when no smsc starts. Don't know if this was fixed. But don't once bearerbox is up and running. 2) No. Kannel should queue messages until modem is able to send messages again and up to fill message queue. 3) Might be. If server is unable to keep the peace of apps running on it, any app, not only kannel boxes might die/crash. 4) If you do block local/remote connections between kannel boxes yes, smsbox/wapbox will die but bearerbox shouldn't since it runs by itself. You should review change log between versions since there might be backward compatibility issues with some features. what do you have in bearerbox log?
