Even for data_sm, there was a patch made by Rene a couple of years back, that never made it to production. It may be an option.

Afaik, being SMPP it shouldn't matter much what's the technology handling the messages over the air.

Now, if your SMSC uses data_sm is another story... but as long as the traffic is handled as submit_sm/deliver_sm you should be fine no matter what's behind that.

Alex

I don't have it, it was years ago at another company.

Anyway, it didn't have anything special at all, just the normal SMPP
configuration, had nothing different from GSM carriers at all.

I have done SMPP against CMDA carriers with stock Kannel without any
issues many year ago.

Hi Aldo,

That looks like a MT (submit_sm) .. trying sending a message from the
handset to a short-code provisioned on that connection. The MO will
hopefully generate a deliver_sm and not a data_sm.

Hi Nikos,

We don't use sm_data .. we use deliver_sm, always have, so no problem.

Alan

Hi,

Are you sure? SMPP over CDMA sends data_sm instead of deliver_sm pdus.
Kannel doesn't support data_sm. A couple of years back, Rene I think,
offered a patch for data_sm, but it was never committed to kannel.
Maybe you have been using his patch.

Hi Aldo,

Should work nicely out of the box (has for some years now). The Kannel
dev team are top shelf. Any problems are more likely to be with your
SMSC being not SMPP compliant (we had to make some tweaks some years
back, no longer needed). That said, we're not using TLV's or anything
overly fancy .. so it just works.

Cheers,
Alan

Hi Aldo,

We have been using Kannel with CDMA networks (over SMPP) in NZ for
almost 10 years now. CDMA modems .. now that is a different question.

Alan

Hi, I was jut reading old posts in this mail list and I found a
phrase by Nikos saying "... Kannel works only with GSM networks,
though, not CDMA. For details read the
online User's Guide."

This really surprises me...!

I am committed to deploy a SMPP router, so two of our company SMC's
will communicate with a third party SMC that offer a 2-WAY SMS
service. I just compiled Gateway and smppbox, and start reading the
user's guide and sample configurations... as our network is a CDMA
does this means that I am in the wrong place? Isn't there a
workaround that makes smppbox to work with CDMA Based SMC's?

Thanks,

Aldo Zavala
