Hi all, I've been doing some research on setting up an SMS gateway, and it seems like Kannel will be the way to go. I'm just confused about what exactly I will need for my purposes. Basically I want to be able to send a text message to a phone number (not a short code), and then have the data in that message inserted into a database. A confirmation reply would be important as well. I know Kannel can forward my message to a URL.. but I don't understand what hardware I need for it to do this.
Can I use a regular phone, or does it have to be a GSM modem? Can I use my provider's SMSC, or do I have to set up my own? I currently have CDMA service with Telus in Canada.. can I use this account, or do I need to get GSM service? I understand how all this basically works, but it looks like Kannel can do a lot more than what I need and I'm not sure what I'll need it to do. Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Noob-questions---requirements-for-forwarding-SMS-to-URL-tp23838098p23838098.html Sent from the Kannel - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
