I also run sqlbox for MT traffic on the same machine as bearerbox with
no problems so far. My setup is quite similar to yours.

The remote box runs smsbox and also a (local to it) sqlbox with no
problems. I've tried running a local (I mean, on the same host as
sqlbox) smsbox, but after connecting it tries to fetch MO messages
from the remote bearerbox and dies after fetching the first message. I
don't want it to fetch MO traffic anyway (I think I can fix that by
configuring it) but the question remaining is why it dies.
