Problem with USB to serial for GSM Modem

Hi,   I am using Nokia 12i GSM modem with Fedora Core 5 with USB to serial connector as I don’t have serial port on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400).   Now, it does not get detected at ttyUSB0, what could be the problem?   Could any one help me out?   Thanks, >> Divyesh A.
