Just try what Alejandro suggests: Use alpha characters to identify
your SMSC. If this fails too, replace the allowed-smsc-id with
denied-smsc-id:

group = smsc
smsc = smpp
smsc-id = smscA
denied-smsc-id="smscB;smscC"

group = smsc
smsc = smpp
smsc-id = smscB
denied-smsc-id="smscA;smscC"

group = smsc
smsc = smpp
smsc-id = smscC
denied-smsc-id="smscA;smscB"

Be sure you have no previous instances of bearerbox nor smsbox running
before starting Kannel.
