Serkan,
I'm new to this list and I'm not quite experienced with WAP. We are deploying a project where the subscribers download some midi music files to their handsets from some web site (using a url such as http://www.xxx.com/yyy/abc.mid ). The content is downloaded through the Kannel WAP gateway. The handset downloads the file successfully, but it cannot play the file (which makes me think that the file may be corrupt). We have tried with different midi files and different handsets but the result is the same. The same system works successfully at other sites (I am not sure which WAP gateway is used at other sites, or whether there is a WAP gateway at those sites at all). Although I know that this has a very low probability, I would like to know whether the Kannel WAP gateway might be performing a conversion on the content during the download which might corrupt the file. If it can perform such a conversion, how can I disable that?
You have to download the midi files via a descriptor file. The phone loads the descriptor file which has the URL in it for the actual content (midi), at which point the phone then downloads said content. Look on Nokia's "Forum Nokia" for more on this. They have nice PDFs describing it with examples.
