Nokia 6100 and DKU-5 USB cable

Hello,             I’m trying to get the SMS Gateway to work with my Nokia 6100, firstly does any one know if it is compatible with Kannel, secondly will Kannel work with a USB cable or does it have to be a serial cable? Any help would be much appreciated,   Thanks, Richard Glover-Davies
