In "Project Structure" under "Modules" look at "paths" tab for the modules. You should see separate paths for main and test. For example:
Output: /Users/gwen/workspaces/kafka/clients/build/classes/main Test output: /Users/gwen/workspaces/kafka/clients/build/classes/test Make sure you have something similar.
