I'll just refer you to the
"About<http://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/index.html>"
page of log4j. Apart from improved performance one new feature is automatic
reloading of the configuration without loss of log events. Also my existing
application uses log4j2 to log to various appenders and I don't want to
downgrade to log4j 1.x.
