I know the docs say mixing 2.2 and 2.4 directives is not recommended: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/upgrading.html
I don't know if that might affect the listing you're expecting, though. I know RHEL uses SELinux for access control, but Solaris has its own similar methods.
