We are using Apache HTTP Server 2.8 as proxy server to load balance multiple WebLogic application server instances. It uses cookie and round-robin rule. It works well for most of time. However, occasionally, the Apache HTTP server loses connections with backend WebLogic server instances. It seems sometimes Apache is not retrieving cookies. The error log and access log look like following: bash-3.00# tail -f error_log
[Sat Jan 17 09:11:12 2009] [error] CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=146, line 1740 of ../nsapi/URL.cpp]: Error connecting to host 10.25.11.3:9001 errno = 146 [Sat Jan 17 09:11:12 2009] [error] CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=146, line 1740 of ../nsapi/URL.cpp]: Error connecting to host 10.25.11.3:9002 errno = 146 10.25.20.6 - - [17/Jan/2009:09:16:52 -0500] "POST /app1/ServletResponse HTTP/1.1" 200 2622 10.25.20.6 - - [17/Jan/2009:09:16:52 -0500] "POST /app1/ServletResponse HTTP/1.1" 200 2622 The problem is that it is not consistent. It only happens occasionally, in the middle of a stress test. We are using WebLogic server 10 (MP1). Any input would be appreciated. XY
