Hello All,

I'm attempting to build Apache on a 64 bit install of SLES 10. Its been
an interesting ride so far, and I had to solve an expat error already,
but now I'm stuck on what appears to be an openssl / apache issue. I'm
running openssl 0.9.8e which I have compiled and installed into
/product/openssl. That install goes fine, but then Apache bombs on
"make" with the following error:

/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.0/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin
/ld: /product/openssl/lib/libssl.a(s2_srvr.o): relocation R_X86_64_32
against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object;
recompile with -fPIC
/product/openssl/lib/libssl.a: could not read symbols: Bad value

I see a similar problem to the pop up with PHP on several google
searches, but none of their solutions seem to apply to Apache. Any
suggestions out there?

Thanks!

-Tim
