Thanks for your help. I did a locally compiled installation but might have 
missed some configuration parameters. I need Apache to be conntected to 
PostgreSQL so that I can use PhpPgAdmin web interface for PostgreSQL. I had 
searched the web but was not able to get any useful installation guide for this 
case. Meanwile, I am also thinking to upgrade CentOS-4 to CentOS-5 which has 
pre-installed latest versions of PostgreSQL, PHP and Apache. Are there any 
other alternatives?
