I had enabled mod_cache(disk) on a front end proxy (windows2003/httpd 2.0). I
followed the
simple configuration example in the docs. Everything worked fine at first. Then
I noticed it
started to serve cached compressed files incorrectly. Users were seeing
compressed files as
plain text - junk. (This might have had something to do with the Vary header
and mod_cache.) I
ended up disabling mod_cache.

I'd give it a try and see how it behaves. Good luck.
