I don't understand your confusion. If the response is aborted, it is
natural that the actual number of bytes sent to the client (%O) is
smaller than the size of the resource the server attempted to send
(%b). In reality, %b is not a reliable measure of anything except
exactly what it is defined as: the number of bytes the server is
*attempting* to send. If you want to count traffic, you need to use
%O.
Apache version 2.0.49 on Centos Linux. Below is a sample line
from log.
Quite an old version. There may be any number of bugs also affecting this.
