We use Oracle Instant Client with PHP OCI8 in Apache 2.0.59. (On Novell SuSE Linux 9.x, on a SGI Altix 350 server (ia64 platform))
I modified $APACHESERVER_ROOT/bin/envvars to add the lines below.
