Hi Dave, Reuti and all

thanks for your responses. The documentation I have access to is several PDF
downloaded from Oracle site (like Oracle Grid Engine - Administration Guide
6.2.7 (august 2011)). I will have a look to the gridengine.info site (when it
will be back since it seems down for now).
I had a look to the Ticket Policy Hierarchy that was set to OSF. I can have a
try with NONE.
My situation is the following:
1/ I submitted several job to the grid. Some of those jobs falled in the queue
with priority 0.550
2/ Another user (that submit lot and lot of jobs for several weeks) submitted
several other jobs (more that me). His jobs got the 0.650 priority and were all
queued imediatly before mine.
I did not change anything to the policies. My configuration uses $pe_slots rule
for PE and three customized consumable parameters each job must declare to give
an estimation of its resource consumption.

In our group we would prefer to have a First In First Out policy of, if
possible since we did not determine a better one for the moment (In fact, I
think about a policy that would allow user jobs to acquire a priority inverse
proportional to the number of the jobs of this user in the queue, in order to
have a single user job run before a long long list of job of an other user...
but that's an other story).

Do you have any idea about the behavior I observed?

Thanks a lot

Lionel

The jobs are standing in the queue for a long time? weight_waiting_time can be
adjusted in the scheduler configuration.

With doc you mean "Resource Allocation Overview" on gridengine.info or any
other reference? The default order for policy_hierarchy is OFS and you set it
to NONE like the mentioned doc specified indirectly?
