According to LO Calc help, I can create a chart with a data range that consists of more than one region. Yet when I try to do this, adding a region to an existing chart, Calc refuses to accept the change. It's not that Calc won't let me adjust the range. I've been gradually increasing the size of the original range as I added more data. But now I want to add a separate range rather than have my data run all the way down the page.

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/schart/01/wiz_data_range.html says:

In Calc, an example data range would be "$Sheet1.$B$3:$B$14". Note that a data range may consist of more than one region in a spreadsheet, e.g. "$Sheet1.A1:A5;$Sheet1.D1:D5"

If you want a data range of multiple cell areas that are not next to each other, enter the first range, then manually add a semicolon at the end of the text box, then enter the other ranges. Use a semicolon as delimiter between ranges.
