Dear LibreOffice People 1. Recently in my main Desktop Computer my LibreOffice package collapsed completely. I was unable to create a new document or access any existing document. Mr LO version was 7.something (I think) and had become totally useless.
2. I updated to LO~24.8. Still unable to access my existing documents, but MAY have been able to create new documents (I didn't try). 3. I uninstalled the updated LO~24.8 and installed a new LO~24.8. Now I could create new documents and access my existing documents, BUT 4. When I opened existing LO Draw documents I found: a. the size of the images in the drawing had changed so that the scale of the drawing was no longer true; b. In some cases the image was no longer located within the borders of the drawing page; c. text fonts were changed, mostly (but not always) plain text presenting as bold, and in some cases the text font being a mixture of plain and bold; d. the text sizes appeared to have changed also, in some cases being no longer located within the border of the drawing; e. arrows linking test to the images had become indistinct, and f. the title block text no longer fitted in the title block block. (This may be related to 4d). 5. When I opened a select drawing in my laptop (LO Version 8. something) I found the same as 4 (a-f) above. 6. When I opened the same drawing in an old desktop computer (LO Version 5.something) I found that the document seemed to open correctly. 7. The microsoft wretches had managed to upgrade my main (Desktop) computer shortly (days) before the problems started, despite my fighting all their wet dream upgrades for years (because I feared something like this). 8. My laptop also was upgraded by microsoft (without my permission) some time (? months) ago. 9. QUESTIONS a. Is LibreOffice always and everywhere upwardly compatible? b. Is LibreOffice always and everywhere upwardly compatible between versions 5.xx and 7.xx? c. Is LibreOffice always and everywhere upwardly compatible between versions 7.xx and 8.xx? d. Is LibreOffice always and everywhere upwardly compatible between versions 7.xx and 24.xx? e. If NOT (to any of the above) where can I get an installable package of version 7.xx?, and f. PLEASE DON'T tell me to visit the libreoffice site because (so far as I can see) you DO NOT provide installable packages for anything before LO 24.xxx). 10. COMMENT: Pretty sure that microsoft is behind the F/U that has caused this, both on the desktop and the laptop, and caused me to waste many nights and consume much red wine ... but ... but ... I want a way ahead !!! Any suggestions are welcome!!! (I have too many drawings for me to manually change to LO 24.xxx !!!) 11. Nb., that I do not know the situation with respect to Calc and Write (which I use) or the other features of LO which I don't/haven't yet used).
